Preface

Terminology of Plants is one of the most fascinating scientific disciplines and it has immense importance. It has been advancing repeatedly and got different potential applications due to the surge of usefulness of plants. The present glossary is intended for beginners who wish to understand the fundamentals of plant Science terminology. The whole gamut of subject has been described in simple and systematic manner and suites to the readers who have not been exposed sufficiently to the subject. The primary aim throughout has been clarity, simplicity and high standard.

This glossary is complied to provide adequate information of morphological, anatomical, taxanomic, and other vital aspects of plants suggested by undergraduate students. Every effort has been made to make the book useful for the students, teachers and research scholars in this field.

The author has freely consulted various articles, discussion notes, reviews, extracts and published glossaries from various countries in the preparation of this book, in order to make it comprehensive and up-to-date,and terms are explained in such a way that a reader can pick it easily. Unnecessary details have been avoided.Though every care has been taken by me, publisher and the printer, it is quite likely that some errors might occur in the book, but I hope these are of very insignificant nature. Moreover, explanatory positive criticism and concrete suggestions will be appreciated gratefully.

The author expresses gratitude to his friends and colleagues whose constant inspirations have initiated him in bringing out his book.
